About Thai Orchid Guide

A guide to Thai food in the UK: what the classic dishes are made of, where they come from, where to find Thai kitchens — with addresses, opening hours and websites — and how they scored at their last food hygiene inspection.

Thai Orchid Guide is an independent reference site, not a restaurant. It joins two open sources: Wikidata for Thai dishes — type, regional cuisine and ingredients — and the Food Standards Agency’s Food Hygiene Rating Scheme for restaurants, takeaways, pubs, caterers and grocers trading under a Thai name in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Hygiene ratings describe cleanliness, the condition of the premises and food safety management on the day of inspection. They are not a review of the food. Ratings change after re-inspection, so we show the inspection date next to every score and refresh the data regularly.

Addresses, districts, opening hours, websites, map coordinates and chain membership come from business listings compiled from public map and web sources, checked in October 2026. We matched them to the hygiene register by name, postcode and location; Thai restaurants found only in the listings are included too, without a hygiene score. Venues marked as closed in the listings are flagged and never shown as trading.

Hygiene-register venues are selected by their trading name (Thai, Siam, Bangkok, Isaan and similar words), so a Thai kitchen with a neutral name may be missing, and a few non-Thai businesses may slip in. Opening hours change — check with the restaurant before you travel. Corrections are welcome.

Dish photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences; the author and licence are shown under every photo and on the image credits page.
